Okay, okay, let’s pretend we have this book! Let’s imagine a recipe from there. Something… something… ooh! How about a really good, satisfying bowl of ramen? Aiyah, everyone love ramen!
Babish Inspired Hearty Ramen Recipe
Ramen is like, the ultimate comfort food, right? So warm, so savory, so… slurpy! Haha! This recipe, I make it up myself, but it’s inspired by all those fancy ramen places. Don’t worry, it’s not too hard to make at home! You just need to gather all the right things.
Ramen Ingredients:
- For the Broth: 8 cups chicken broth (good quality!), 2 cups water, 4 cloves garlic (smashed), 2 inches ginger (sliced), 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons mirin, 1 sheet dried kombu seaweed, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- For the Noodles: 8 ounces fresh ramen noodles (or dried, but fresh is better!), enough for 2 people
- For the Toppings: 1/2 cup sliced green onions, 2 soft boiled eggs (perfectly runny!), 4 slices chashu pork belly (or cooked pork belly), 1 sheet nori seaweed (cut into strips), a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds, some chili oil (if you like spicy!)
Ramen Instructions:
- Make the Broth: In a big pot, put the chicken broth, water, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, mirin, kombu, and sesame oil. Bring it to a boil, then turn it down to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes. The longer you simmer, the more flavorful the broth will be! Okay? After simmering, take out the kombu and the ginger and garlic (we don’t want to eat those!).
- Cook the Noodles: While the broth is simmering, cook the ramen noodles according to the package directions. Make sure you don’t overcook them, they should be al dente (a little bit firm). Drain the noodles very well.
- Prepare the Toppings: Slice the green onions, make the soft boiled eggs, and slice the chashu pork. Get everything ready to go!
- Assemble the Ramen: Put the cooked noodles into a bowl. Ladle the hot broth over the noodles. Now, carefully arrange the toppings on top of the noodles: green onions, soft boiled egg (cut in half), chashu pork, nori seaweed, and sesame seeds. Drizzle with chili oil if you want it spicy!
- Slurp and Enjoy! Aiyah, this is the most important part! Slurp the noodles and the broth and enjoy every single bite! Don’t be shy, ramen is meant to be slurped!
So easy, right? And so delicious! You can change the toppings if you want. Maybe add some bamboo shoots, or some spinach, or even some corn! It’s your ramen, so you make it how you like it! Remember to share with your friends and family! They will thank you for sure! Okay? Okay!
