Oh my goodness, friends! You know how much I love a good food adventure, yes? And I just stumbled upon something *amazing* – a whole collection of recipes recreated from TV shows and movies! It’s called “Binging with Babish,” and I’m already drooling just thinking about it. So excited to try making these! Let’s get cooking, shall we?
The Krabby Patty (SpongeBob SquarePants)
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea and makes the most delicious burger ever? That’s right, SpongeBob! While the secret formula remains a mystery, we can attempt our own version of the iconic Krabby Patty.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb Ground Beef (80/20 blend is perfect)
- 4 Sesame Seed Buns
- 4 Slices American Cheese
- Lettuce (shredded)
- Tomato (sliced)
- Onion (thinly sliced)
- Pickles (sliced)
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Mayonnaise
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Optional: Secret Sauce (see instructions)
Instructions:
- First, gently form the ground beef into four equally sized patties. Don’t overwork the meat, okay? You want them juicy! Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat up a grill pan or a large skillet over medium-high heat. A little bit of oil never hurt anyone, a tiny tiny splash.
- Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. I like mine medium-well, personally! Add a slice of American cheese to each patty in the last minute of cooking so it gets nice and melty.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare your toppings. Wash and shred the lettuce, slice the tomato and onion, and get those pickles ready.
- Now for the optional, but highly recommended, Secret Sauce! In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, a dash of Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of garlic powder. Adjust to your liking! Taste test, taste test!
- Assemble your Krabby Patties! Start with the bottom bun, spread on some Secret Sauce (or mayonnaise if you skipped it), add lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, the cheesy patty, ketchup, mustard, and finally, the top bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy this taste of Bikini Bottom! So yummy and satisfying!
Remy’s Ratatouille (Ratatouille)
Remember Remy, the little chef rat with big dreams? His ratatouille was not just delicious; it was a work of art! Let’s try to recreate that magic in our own kitchens, okay?
Ingredients:
- 1 Red Bell Pepper
- 1 Yellow Bell Pepper
- 1 Zucchini
- 1 Yellow Squash
- 1 Eggplant
- 2 Roma Tomatoes
- 1 Onion
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 tsp Dried Thyme
- 1 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Dried Basil
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Fresh Basil Leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This is important so we prepare our little oven.
- Prepare the piperade: In a large oven-safe skillet (or Dutch oven), heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, thyme, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The piperade is the base of our flavor!
- While the piperade simmers, prepare the vegetables: Slice the bell peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, and tomatoes into thin, even rounds. This is important for the presentation!
- Arrange the vegetable slices in concentric circles on top of the piperade, alternating colors for a beautiful presentation. It’s like a little work of art!
- Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the vegetables and season with salt and pepper.
- Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving. Serve warm and enjoy this beautiful and flavorful dish! So fancy, right?
