Binging with Babish Inspired Recipe
This recipe is a nod to the popular YouTube show that recreates amazing looking food from TV shows. It’s a dish that’s both comforting and surprisingly easy to put together. This dish isn’t exactly the same but it’s inspired by the general principles of the channel.
Let’s get started! Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound pasta of your choice (spaghetti, penne, or rigatoni work great)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- A good dollop of sour cream on top
Instructions:
- First, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Be sure to break it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease. Nobody wants a greasy sauce, right?
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. The aroma alone is worth it!
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Now’s the time to adjust the seasoning to your liking!
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, or even longer for a richer flavor. The longer it simmers, the better the flavors meld together. Keep an eye on it and stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- While the sauce is simmering, cook the pasta according to package directions. Make sure to cook it al dente! Nobody wants mushy pasta. Drain the pasta and set aside.
- Once the sauce is ready, toss it with the cooked pasta. Make sure every strand is coated in that delicious sauce.
- Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves. Add a dollop of sour cream. I highly suggest the sour cream, it really brings it to another level.
There you have it! A simple yet satisfying dish that’s sure to become a weeknight staple. Enjoy!
